Cashless Catering

Cashless Catering

An information letter will be sent to you to explain about our Cashless Catering system.  It provides us with an efficient, fast and high-quality meals service.  The system incorporates the latest technology and eliminates the need for students to carry cash throughout the day, thus reducing the risks of losing cash or of bullying.  It is a biometric system which means we use an algorithm-based scan which reads between 50/130 points on the thumb.  It is not a fingerprint in any way, shape or form and is of use only in the cashless system.

We will need to take a scan of students’ thumb to register them to the system.  This will happen once Year 9 have started with us in September.  If a student has food from the Canteen on their Induction Day, they will be asked for their name to charge the cost to their account.  We will recover the cost of the meal once your child has started with us in September. Once scanning has taken place, the student places their thumb on the EPOS terminal, which looks up their account details and allows them to purchase items using only this method of identification.

If you choose not to have your child registered on the Biometric system, the 4 digit PIN code can be used.  Please return the form from the letter which will be sent to you to confirm your choice of scanning or PIN code.

All free school meal entitlements will be entered on to the system automatically and the system will allocate the free school meal amount to the appropriate accounts on a daily basis.  Any underspend will not be carried forward to the next day.  Students with free meal entitlements remain anonymous at all times as all accounts are accessed in the same manner.

A daily ‘spend limit’ can be programmed into the system.  Please let the Finance Office know if you wish to include a daily spend limit.
