Introduction:

History at Thomas Alleyne’s High School is both popular and successful. The History department challenges students to become independent learners who can apply their skills in later life. The History department balances the acquisition of historical knowledge and understanding with the development of historical skills. We study History through a mixture of chronological, thematic and depth study courses.

Aims of the department:

The History Department aims to provide students with historical understanding which has both breadth and depth, strong powers of analysis, the ability to write coherently and precisely and a strong work ethic. We aim to encourage effort, application and collaboration in a good humoured environment which has strong and positive relationships between pupils and teachers.
